Let’s start our adventure with Fighting Games!

Fighting Games are the game genre closest to my heart. It all started somehow in 2012 when I downloaded Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and started playing it with my friend. After he won with me, I decided to take a solid (as I thought then) training consisting of learning combo and character moves.

Tekken 7

After a week he wasn’t able to win at least one game with me. This moment of triumph filled my batteries, guiding me a new path, the one thing I would like to be good at — Tekken.

When I visited my first tournaments as an 18-year-old, I was beaten by everyone I met on my way. But it gave me a new look at the whole genre — I was thinking more, looking for more useful moves, new stronger combos. The road to self-improvement was at its best and has been going on for over 8 years. I guess it probably will not end soon.

In my story I have had many moments of breakdown, abandoning this type of games, putting out my tournament and organizing activities, but I always came back. Why? Because I enjoy feeling better than myself from the previous day, and I love the people in our community, although I don’t have a good relationship with everyone, which is a kind of result of differences in personality and beliefs. I actually grew up as a player when I started playing other FGs like Street Fighter V, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat 11 or Street Fighter 3rd Strike, because I no longer wanted to be the best Lei player in Poland (character from Tekken 7), but to understand the genre and enjoy it.

Street Fighter V is my first 2D FG with which I fell in love.

I have spent several hours every day in training mode for many months, checking out new moves, setups, combos and gameplay elements that I was not aware of in the past. I’m not completely alienated in this, because many of my friends also love to find more and more new tools to defeat their opponents. We also play a lot together, whether online or offline, meeting at local events or at my place.

Third Strike!

Why am I writing this and what for? I dedicate a lot of my life to FGs because I test the FGs every day for 8 hours of work-life, playing with my coworkers in Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V during breaks. After work, I stream the FGs, where I spend about 2 to 3 hours per day. I live in harmony with the FGs and I would like to show you some of my passion by helping you in difficult moments and writing here from time to time a few words about my thoughts on the FGC.

If you have any questions, wish to play with me or are looking for information about your favorite Fighting Games, you will find me on email: rafal.kurczynski@gmail.com; Twitter: @pijanyskryba and Twitch: @nzg_skryba. So long! Bye!
